Recently I forgot the security code for my Nokia E63. This post is about how I reset the security code.

If you've forgotten your security code, and want to,

Recover the lock code, then visit, How to recover nokia security code.

Reset the lock code, then visit, How to reset nokia security code.

BUT, there are some issues with the working of the steps in the original guide,

Clicking Read info shows phone not found.

Clicking Reset shows Wrong mode, retry in 60 seconds.

Clicking the right arrow button (>) does simply nothing.

So for my convenience I have re-posted the modified Reset guide below,

Tools Required:

Nemesis Service Suite (NSS)

Nokia Suite

Data cable

The Step by Step guide :

Connect phone to PC with USB cable. Remember to choose PC suite mode.

Click Read Info. If it shows phone not found then click again on Read Info and this time when init connection appears, quickly remove the cable and insert it back. Phone details will be displayed.

Select Test mode in the bottom right side and click the right arrow button (>). If nothing happens for 10-12 seconds then click Abort. Again click >; and after 2-3 seconds quickly remove USB cable and re-insert. After a gap of probably 3-4 seconds the phone should go dark, but it won't switch off actually, if you tilt the screen a bit and see it in light reflection, you'll see written test mode, NOKIA. You are now in Test Mode.

Select Full Factory and then click Reset. When init connection appears remove the cable and re-insert. The phone will reboot and the defaults will be reset.

Enjoy !!

Through this post I have shared all my thoughts and experiences ever since I had started to look ahead of my bachelor degree in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE). It may be helpful to those who appeared for GATE 2013 but due to not-so-good score are confused about reappearing in 2014, and also to those appearing for the first time (specially the pass-outs!!).

Well, the world is full of intelligent people, not "full" though :). Many have sharp brains and speedy learning capability. This post is dedicated to those who, like me, are neither fast learners nor hardwired with sharp brains but worse, are dangerously lazy !! So to all the brainy guys, this is not for you :P

I did B.E. from a typical local college in Haryana. In the final year, I realized that I had to decide a course of action : Placement, MBA or M.Tech. Never had the mindset of going for a job (and strangely still don't!!). I knew that I could do some good coding and liked to go into the concepts of some of the courses, but did not know if it really interested me enough to go for an M.tech course. I was confused !!. Besides it was all MBA around me, as all my friends were going for MBA. So I jumped on the ride with them and joined a reputed MBA coaching institute. But as the time passed and the CAT exam was only 1-2 months away, I strongly felt that I couldn't do it. The quantitative aptitude and english drove me crazy!! (may be because of the slow paced learning) and so gave up on MBA. Effectively, after an year I was back where I'd begun, left with the options of placement and M.Tech. I did not want to go for a job and thankfully my parents were cool with this. So, the college was over and I decided to prepare for GATE.

Joined Made Easy Delhi. I had no idea of the GATE culture. I kept moving with the classes before I gradually started losing pace. There were 10 core subjects, which I had never studied with the intensity they were being taught. It was a situation where I was able to grasp things ad hoc but wasn't able to retain them after a while. It was like trying to hold sand with hands. So, after the classes were over, in the last two months before GATE, all I did was build concepts. All theory and no practice, because anyway I found myself failing at cramming tricks and solutions to questions. Every other question seemed new and without having read the theory behind it I couldn't solve it in any way. GATE is about MCQs. You need to learn how to attempt the paper, "maximum attempt, maximum accuracy". You got to have an experience in attempting the paper, which I lacked dangerously.

I gave the GATE 2011 paper based on all the theory I had learned and managed to get an AIR of 2767. In short, I was screwed. Was very frustrated and felt very sad. The only way was to go for the best college my rank could get me into. Also, I had not registered for any other entrance exams for colleges like JNU, IIIT-H, BITS,etc and PSUs. Cursed myself a lot for being so ignorant and lazy. My friends at coaching had started to persuade me to re-drop but I didn't had that confidence of dropping another whole year.
So it all came down to a college named PEC in Chandigarh, which I had inquired about and seemed to be a pretty decent college. I waited for its shortlist to be out. And when it was out, I found myself to be the topper of the list and saw that I wouldn't find students with ranks equivalent to mine there. So, dropped the idea of PEC and joined Made Easy again. There was a lot of burden this time as it was the second year after college and parents were worried too. Had no other way but to put in every bit of me possible.

This time I knew my weaknesses, I knew the culture. I did the best I could at practicing questions and strengthening concepts. And slowly I began to realize that I could actually dream of IITs. I was doing good, made some good notes and was able to solve most of the questions. By the time it was jan-feb, I had revised every subject, practiced all the previous year GATE papers and was also doing pretty good in the GateForum test series.
The day had come. It was GATE exam. Was very anxious and nervous. Literally shivered during the exam. Even filled up two-three bubbles wrong in the OMR sheet. Was a bit sad after the exam thinking that it could have been better.

Anyway, was satisfied with one thing that I had given in all that I had and that "somethings are not in our hands". I had registered for IIIT-H and appeared for it while the GATE result was awaited. I screwed the english and aptitude part of the IIIT-H exam and so was not shortlisted.

15th march, result was out and I was shockingly happy to know that I had scored an AIR 242. I thanked GOD by heart, for I'd got what I wanted. But I wondered how it happened, as I was expecting quite less than that. Later, IITD then declared that there was grace marking for some wrong questions.

I got calls from IISc, IITK, IITKGP, IITD, IITB in that order. I used to think of IISc and IIT-K as the real top grade institutions as they are really hard to get, because of their tough screening process. I wanted to get into IITD as it had no written test but just an interview.

I had registered for computational science course in IISc. I appeared for its written exam in Bangalore. The exam was all mathematics. There were 30 questions. The paper consisted co-ordinate geometry, typical integration and differentiation, limits, probability, etc. Time was probably 45 minutes or 1 hr, I am not quite sure though. The questions were not at all GATE oriented. I attempted only 17 of them and as it was expected, I did not get through.
By this time I had sort of lost quite a confidence, due to the facts that probably I was holding a false GATE result, that I was not selected in IIIT-H and IISc and above all that I was not that brainy to deserve these colleges.

The written test for IITK was to be taken on 8th May. With some friends I reached there a day before. We talked to the seniors. They told us about the interview process, which as expected was a tough one. Was not at all worried about the written exam, not even a little, as I knew what I was up against. In fact, I was kind of enjoying the short stay there.

It was the test time. The written test was quite similar to GATE. Though, discrete mathematics had a good share. Question from probability, PnC, DBMS, OS, TOC, etc were asked . (A better review of the written test by a good friend of mine is here, Written test and Interview at IIT)

To my surprise I completed the exam well before time. In fact I had scanned the whole paper 3-4 times and did the maximum I could. I felt tremendously satisfied as this was exactly what I was looking for to happen in GATE. I was now sure that I would get an interview call and so I did. Also, a senior friend of mine even told me that I had topped the exam and I would be selected for sure. I was damn too happy to know that. For the first time in life I had the great feeling of achievement. It was awesome !!

The interview was next day. Seniors told that I would be asked my favorite subjects and questions would then be asked from them. So I decided that I would go with TOC, Maths and Algorithms. I was a bit inclined towards TOC, so I borrowed a book from senior and revised basic definitions and theorems.
(The questions in the interview are quite simple in the sense that only the basic definitions and concepts are asked. Questions are neither complicated nor taken to a higher level where you would need your out-of-the-box creativity and imagination stuff. All they ask is what you should have already studied)

It was the interview day. I dressed up in formals and took with me all the original documents in a file. There were three professors in the interview panel.
At first they had a brief look at my details with them. They observed that I was a 2010 pass out and asked about the 2 year gap. Before facing the interview I had given a lot of thought to this question and had come up with answers like family problems, health problem, tuition and teaching and all the stuff like that, but finally decided to stick to the truth. The answer was, "I was preparing for GATE", being cautious at not saying anything about coaching centers, as I had a feeling that professors don't seem to like the "coaching" word. Thankfully, they took that quite easily and moved on by asking what my favorite fields were. I replied with TOC, maths and algorithms.

The questions asked were:

1. One of them (who I later came to know had done his Phd under the famous Dijkstra) asked "What is a spanning tree ?"
A. I told him the simple definition but he did not seem to be quite happy.

2. He then asked "OK, how many edges are there in a spanning tree of a single component graph with n vertices?"
A. I said "n-1 edges".

3. He said "can you prove it??" (they ask lots of proofs)
A. I initially thought of some statement that would imply the correctness of my answer but I knew that mere statements are not considered as proofs, so I started proving by induction. I had kind of lost a bit of it during the proof but the professor then helped me to complete it.

4. Another professor asked "What does NP stand for?"
A. I said "NP stands for Non Polynomial"

5. No, OK what is NP?
A. I replied "it is a class of problems which takes polynomial time to be solved on a Non Deterministic Turing Machine". He seemed to be happy now. This gave me some confidence.

6. So, now what does NP stand for?
A. I couldn't get the clue and stupidly said "Sir, Non Polynomial".

He made me restate the definition and this time he gave me a facial expression when I said Non-Deterministic Turing machine. I then said "OK sir, it is Non-deterministic Polynomial". And with a positive expression he said "YES".

7. He then asked me "What is Big-O notation?"
A. This was quite simple and I replied well.

8. "OK, which one is bigger : O(2^n) or 2^O(n)?"
A. I said 2^O(n) is bigger because 4n is O(n) and 2^4n = (2^n)^4, which is far far greater than just (2^n). But, later after the interview I realized that it isn't possible to compare the two things because O(2^n) and 2^(O(n)) are not functions, but sets of functions.

The interview was over and after a few days I got a mail saying that I was selected for the CSE M.Tech course at IITK. I would just say that I felt the heavens that day :)

Yes!! it is true....
You could be running XP in Vista or Windows 7 in XP.....

This is not only fun but sometimes useful too,

1. Say you are running Vista and had like to run an application that is not supported by Vista, what you'd do?? One easy way is to run that application in XP,where this XP is running in Vista using Microsoft Virtual PC 2007

2. It is not easy to install multiple Operating Systems to a HDD.With the Virtual PC 2007 software you can do so easily by switching between OSs like applications with only few mouse clicks.

1. Downloading Microsoft Virtual PC 2007
This software is totally free and you can download it from the link below,
For 32-bit systems (31.7 MB)

2. Installing and Using VPC 2007
Here's the step by step presentation guide to install and use VPC 2007.
Virtual PC guide (1.1 MB)
Note: The ppt file has embedded notes below each slide. The notes provide installation and usage directions.@m@nhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06223697829482461403noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1441005961285986135.post-60217172162330528422010-02-01T21:29:00.004+05:302013-03-19T16:35:22.858+05:30Easy WORD to PDF File ConversionThis is about converting "Word to PDF" and not "PDF to Word"......there are many free softwares floating around the web for the latter case but in former case they are trial versions, and if not trial then they don't work fine.

Sometimes PDF files come more handy than Word files.Though Word files can be easily edited but are prone to some problems like,

1. Carrying them in pen drive makes the vulnerable to virus, thus data may be lost.

2. In the case when you print Word files that have been prepared on different system, these files are prone to changes in the settings you made. Thus you may end up reworking the whole document all over again.

3. Sometimes the too easy modification/editing ability of word files is also the problem. If you want that no one can edit the document but the document is also not that important then word files are not a better option.

The key is Adobe Distiller. Distiller is part of the Adobe Acrobat family of products. Distiller is the main engine for turning PostScript files into PDF documents. Although there are other programs for generating PDF files, Distiller is the primary one.

The download Link is HERE.
1. Download and Install Distiller.
2. Open the Word document that needs to be converted.
3. Press "Ctrl+P" or choose "print" option from the file menu.

Here I present ESET Nod32 plus its "key finder software"(MiNODLogin),so that you just get licenses at your screen without searching around the web.....

Why ESET Nod32 ??
Coz it's the best.Believe me I have tried all......
Norton....don't talk about it,it ruins the system,as if it were built to run only norton and nothing else.
Avast.......the most ugliest antivirus program,It is fast but don't know if it catches any viruses.
Kaspersky.....a bit faster than norton but slower than avast...also doesn't detect some of the viruses.
AVG........I don't like its interface and not easily available as full version.

ESET nod32 detects all viruses...the "new folder","autorun.inf",etc.
Its fast like avast and powerful like norton.Besides you don't need to worry about license.ESET Antivirus License Finder (MiNODLogin) finds the license keys for you to use ESET as full version.....

Also like Avast and AVG,ESET Nod32 can be updated in offline mode,i.e,you don't need to have internet connection to your system. To do so there is a software called "ESET Virtual Update Server (MiNODServer)".

1. Download and Install the setup --
You can download and then install the setup file from the official website of ESET.
Note: Don't go for ESET smart security....Go for ESET Antivirus.....
http://www.eset.com/download/free_trial_download_int.php

Here you can select the setup file that suits your systems configuration. These setup files are the most updated ones available throughout the web.

2. ESET MiNODlogin --
Here's the software download link
ESET Antivirus License Finder (MiNODLogin)

You need to install java in your system for this software to work. Here's the java link
JAVA Setup

After installing java and downloading Minodlogin just install the .exe file. You should then be able to run the software from shortcut on desktop.
The system must be connected to internet.Once you run the software,a window will appear where some sites will be enlisted.
Simply expand any one of the site (by clicking on the "+" sign before each of them). Now you will see the keys (User names and passwords).Copy and paste any key in ESET.
You are now a registered user and can "update" the virus database as well as "upgrade" to full version.

3. ESET MiNODserver --
Sorry folks,I tried n googled but this software is not available in english. It is in some european language,so until it is available in english, you need to have internet connection to be able to update ESET.....@m@nhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06223697829482461403noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1441005961285986135.post-47469459411006492162009-10-25T01:10:00.011+05:302013-04-01T02:51:48.709+05:30DBAF Comic by Toyble

DBAF, where the "AF" stands for "After Future" or "Another Future", is the new Dragonball Series after the DBGT. It is not an official series of Dragonball,as admitted by Akira Toriyama, the creator of DB_Z_GT. But is a Fanfic Art, created by the fans of DB_Z_GT who were not willing to accept the end of Dragonball Series.

There are many versions of DBAF floating around the web, but one of the manga fan named TOYBLE has done a job that is truly appreciable. He publishes the Comic pages on his blog http://blog.livedoor.jp/toyble/ (Less frequently though). The characters drawn by him are just the same as found in DB_Z_GT. The comic is simply awesome.
Have a look. Vegeta at Super Saiyan level 4 being attacked by XICOR (a Super Saiyan 5).
I had earlier posted on how to Install Windows XP using a Pen Drive.
This post would help you Installing Windows Vista/7 using Pen Drive.

The need is same as earlier. A crashed system requires fresh windows installation and unfortunately CD-DVD Drive is also sailing in the same boat, thus use a Pen Drive.

Although XP installation takes longer time than CD/DVD,Windows Vista/7 installaion on the other hand is faster than DVD disc. This is because XP installtion environment does not have latest USB 2.0 drivers, but Vista/7 does.

REQUIREMENTS :

USB-Boot enabled BIOS.

A Pen Drive (Atleast 4GB).

Windows Vista/7 Installation Files (As DVD Image File or RAR/ZIP Compressed File)

MBRwiz2.0 (Download).

UltraISO,a CD-ROM drive emulator (Download).

NOTE : The Vista/7 installation files can be obtained by downloading a DVD-image file from internet. Alternatively there are rar or zip files available on internet which have the installation files in compressed form. In latter case the "UltraISO" software is not required.

1) SETTING UP BIOS

Before anything is done, check if your BIOS allows USB-BOOTING.

Refer to my post "Setting Up BIOS for Booting from Pen Drive or External HDD" to enable booting from Pen Drive.

2) FORMATTING PEN DRIVE

The Pen Drive should be formatted in NTFS to install Windows Vista/7.
If you are working on Vista/7 then simply format the Pen Drive in NTFS file system.

But if you are working on XP then you don't find the NTFS option while formatting a Pen Drive.
Follow these steps :

Right click My Computer icon on desktop (it is also found in start menu).

In the Tools tab, click Device Manager.

A number of system components are listed here.Click on Disk Drives.

Right click your Pen Drive in the Sub Menu of Disk Drives and choose properties.

In the window that pops up,go to the Policies Tab.

Under this check the option "Optimize for performance".

Now if you go for formatting the Pen Drive then NTFS option will be present.

3)) PREPARING BOOTABLE PEN DRIVE

The whole thing is just making Pen Drive bootable.Rest all installation is exactly same as with DVD disc.
Before making Pen Drive Bootable,it must be made an Active Partition. After that it can be made bootable.

# SETTING PEN DRIVE AS ACTIVE PARTITION

If You Are Working On XP

Download the file MBRwiz2.0 and extract to a folder (i extract to the directory d:/temp).

1. Open command prompt(cmd).

2. Use command 'cd' to go to the directory where you extracted MBRwiz2.0 (as shown below,Click the image for zoomed view). Then type the following command "mbrwiz /list" (all commands must be typed without the quotes) as shown in red box and press ENTER.

3. Once you do so,it will dislpay all the storage devices connected to the system and their respective partitions, here "disk 1" is the Pen Drive (if no other pen drive/usb Hdds are connected).By default the active parameter is set to "no" for Disk 1(shown in red box below). Now type the command "mbrwiz /disk=1 /active=1" and press ENTER.

Note : the command should be typed as it is,be careful with spaces too.

4. Now it will ask for confirmation.Type 'y'.Then the screen should look as below

5. Now the Pen Drive is an active partition and can be made bootable.

Also in step 3 if you type command "mbrwiz /disk=1 /active=0" then the pen drive will become inactive partition as it was earlier.

If You Are Working On Vista/7

Plug in the Pen Drive.

Go to Start Menu and type "cmd".The cmd icon appears in list.

Right Click the cmd icon and choose "Run as administrator",click "yes" on the next UAC window (User Account Control).

Type "diskpart" and press ENTER.

Type "list disk" and press ENTER.This will list down all storage disks connected to the system, even your HDD.Note the Disk No. for your Pen Drive (usually it is Disk 1 if no other pen drives and external hdd's are connected).

Type "select disk x" and press ENTER,where "x" is your disk no. of your pen drive. This will select your Pen Drive. The screen should look as below till this step.

Type "list partition" and press ENTER.This will list down the partitions on your pen drive (usually there is only one partition with no. "1").

Type "select partition 1" and press ENTER.This will select the only partition on your Pen Drive.

Now type "active" and press ENTER.This makes the pen drive active partition. To make it inactive simply type "inactive" instead of "active".The screen now should be as below.

Exit cmd

Note : The Pen Drive is not bootable now,it is an Active Partition.Only an Active Partition can be made bootable.

Now simply extract the Windows Vista/7 installation files to a folder named "win" on desktop if you have the rar/zip file of Windows Vista/7 DVD.

But if you have a DVD Image file of the Windows Vista/7 DVD,then you need a Virtual CD-DVD drive Emulator.Download and Install UltraISO and mount the image file on virtual drive and then copy the files to folder "win" on desktop.

A small tutorial to work with UltraISO :

After installing,go to My Computer.

There you will find an extra virtual CD-ROM drive.Right click this drive.

In the subsequent selection menu there will be an option "UltraISO".Choose it.

Another sub menu will pop out.Choose the option "Mount" here.

A window will appear where you can browse your cd-image file.

Browse it and click OK.Your CD-IMAGE FILE is now mounted on to the drive.

Open the drive and copy all files to "win" folder on desktop.

# MAKING PEN DRIVE BOOTABLE

FOR VISTA/7 -

Open cmd by "run as administrator" option.By default the current directory is "c:/windows/system32".We have to change this directory to desktop.

First type "cd\" and press ENTER.This will take you to root directory,i.e,C:

Now type "cd users/xxxx/desktop" and press ENTER.Here "xxxx" is your User Name with which you logged into Windows.

Before going to details you must check if you really need to change settings in BIOS.
Just press the key (when you start the system with Pen Drive inserted) that opens the boot sequence. This key is generally F10,F12,ESC,etc.

Here if your Pen Drive is listed in the sequence then simply select it to boot.
But if not then read on....

Note : The BIOS(Basic Input Output Setup) varies from PC to PC.Yours may be different (still you could get some "how about" of setting up BIOS from this post). Also some BIOS do not support USB booting (then this tutorial will not help you).

Note of Caution : First read the full post and then try.

The steps are :
1. Power on your PC and press the key required to enter BIOS setup. This Key is usually F2,DEL or F11 on different systems and is displayed at the first screen when system starts.
At first the screen should look as below

<img $r="true" border="0" height="395" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVhTIyfKLVUSFWIdTskl9CuWX7hyU_XTvwIl6EHisQphN-j0W7hIMd9c5SDZthIfCazlAlqhMUZm0lNcTfWQwh4decSRir6lSyf9HXvhhvJxE9utwZQjMcNI8FhBfVbSJQyvcsmWMf5A/s640/1.JPG" width="640" />

2. Go to the BOOT option using the right-left arrow keys shown in green box below.
Note: Some system's BIOS do not show the BOOT option. In that case you will find the BOOT ORDER (what we are actually looking for) in some other option.

<img $r="true" border="0" height="406" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifzImMsJRQHS624wCk25oXH7aJqJL7GncHDHnNWqwgechs8hbdwWQWN7ZcCEI30MixMNsKIOp5uRELyVRVOxWX9phchbssFBkuFIrknRmyXOXeWKuTnclfhxl3RNZ49cFJ7vsVrhSuWg/s640/2.JPG" width="640" />

Once you have found the Boot Order, then it might be that your USB Pen Drive/HDD is disabled from boot order as shown in yellow box.
Using the options shown on the right pane of the screen (in red boxes) you can enable the device (here 'x' is used to enable/disable the device from boot order).

Note : Every system on startup scans for booting devices according to the boot order setup in BIOS.Your system's hard disk is also one of them (usually starting with IDE HDD.....).
Here just make sure that your pen drive is above your system's hdd in boot priority order. This can be done again by using options in the right pane (here F5 and F6 are used to decrease and increase the priority respectively).
If everything has been done right then screen should look as below, with USB device at the top (in red box).

<img $r="true" border="0" height="411" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1HDnoEZBeN9-Ptaxruob768AxcNgYcvU_I6YKz9tKVEGafEhkQw2mVfDuSATu1RFrD4YnrCeaPrvNMspyEyZeE_A9hCtTIFKO4bicv2jphWXAftpKMk5_Fx3n1bbZtIxTt48X7t7DAA/s640/3.JPG" width="640" />

Note : On some BIOS the procedure to change boot priority and enable/disable is not as simple as here. Those who are new to this must not try this as it may damage your system.

3. After doing so go to the Exit option and exit saving the changes.

<img $r="true" border="0" height="396" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuoBkVFLYL2OK_NyRIU0Nw3GZfyZ8xNGIi2Ac25ymhJKDiGcdQpxiL0bZGmv5WJgVExr8OaSRN9MQRoZFPikoRahiQxQRdnbqwI_9-PNh0yzvVnCzplG10Y5XOWj3AckqB5GqCH2p_ig/s640/4.JPG" width="640" />

Now your system is ready to boot from Pen Drive.@m@nhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06223697829482461403noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1441005961285986135.post-36910362296136860222009-10-13T17:26:00.012+05:302013-03-23T01:10:35.850+05:30FORGOT LOGIN PASSWORD!!!

If you've forgotten login password to your system and are unable to login then you are at right place.....read on....

Windows provides a login facility to user accounts on a system.A user who has an account on the system can authenticate himself by a Username and Password.

There is a solution in Windows XP,we can boot into Safe Mode and simply login using an Administrator account (which is not visible in the normal startup of the system) and change password of any user on that system.
The solution wouldn't work if one has password protected that administrator account and has forgotten its password also.

This Safe Mode method doesn't work in Vista or 7.

The Hard Way is to format your system, which may result in loss of important data.

There are softwares on internet like the Ophcrack which can recover the lost password. But the problem is that it is quite bulky in size (500MB).So why not remove the password instead using a method involving approx 3MB download only.

This method could be used from a Bootable CD or a Pen Drive too.
Note : The system must support USB booting for this method to work from a Pen Drive.

REQUIREMENTS

A blank CD-ROM or Pen Drive.

UltraISO,a CD/DVD Drive Emulator (Download).

Note:Download UltraISO only if you are using Pen Drive.

Offline NT Password and Registry Editor program ISO Image File (Download).

1)) PREPARING BOOT DEVICE

# If you are using Pen Drive then :

Firstly refer to my post "Setting Up BIOS for Booting from Pen Drive" to enable booting from pen Drive.

After that Download and Install UltraISO.Then Mount the NT passwd and Registry Editor Image File to the Virtual Drive.A small tutorial to work with UltraISO :

After installing,go to My Computer.

There you will find an extra virtual CD-ROM drive.Right click this drive.

In the subsequent selection menu there will be an option "UltraISO".Choose it.

Another sub menu will pop out.Choose the option "Mount" here.

A window will appear where you can browse your cd-image file.

Browse it and click OK.Your CD-IMAGE FILE is now mounted on to the drive.

Now copy all the contents of the Image File to the Pen Drive.

If you are working on Vista or Windows 7 then you will have to skip a file from being copied.

In XP don't select the first file (probably it has no name) while copying the contents of the Image File.It should then work.

Run CMD (In Vista/7 "run as administrator").

Type the Drive Letter of your Pen Drive, say "x:" (excluding quotes) and press ENTER.

Now type the command "syslinux -ma x:" (excluding quotes) and press ENTER.

Exit CMD.

# If you are using CD then:

Jdownloader (Download).

E-Corp Elephant downloader (Download).

These are no Rapidhare crack or any,so called,Rapidshare hacks. They simplify downloading files from One-Click-File Hosters like Rapidshare,Megaupload, etc. They can be used by anyone(both premium and non-premium users).Just copy the links and sit back to watch your download complete.
You can also download full movies from rapidshare, storage.to,etc sites.

1)) Jdownloader

JDownloader is open source, platform independent and written completely in Java.Download and Extract the file.Run the program inside the extracted folder. After installation you are now ready to rock n download.

Whenever you copy any download link while browsing internet,Jdownloader automatically grabs the link.
Once the links are grabbed you can add them to download. It recognises several file sharing sites. Before starting download it will prompt you to accept the TOS (Terms Of Service) of all the different kinds of links,i.e.,If you have added 4 links of rapidshare and 3 links of Mediafire.com then it will prompt you twice, once for rapidshare and once for mediafire.

Jdownloader requires the system to have JAVA runtime enviornment installed. You can download JAVA here,
JAVA Setup

The official website for Jdownloader is http://jdownloader.org/.

2)) E-Corp Elephant Downloader

It is another such application with integrated Web Browser. It does not require JAVA enviornment. It also does not require installation, simply Download and Extract and Run the program (named (E)lephant). It is available in Portable version. But still Jdownloader is more Stable and recommendable.

It works in the same manner as jdownloader by grabbing links copied by you while surfing the net.
Although it does not prompts you to accept any TOS.

GHOST is a software that can be used to backup or recover any partition on a storage disk connected to your system.
It is much easier to recover system using ghost (if it has been backed up using ghost earlier) than to make fresh installations everytime the system crashes.
Ghost can also be used from a Pen Drive. This is quite handy and helpful if in case CD-DVD ROM is not functioning.

REQUIREMENTS

USB-BOOT enabled BIOS.

A Pen Drive (any size will work).

HP USB Storage Format Tool (Download).

Ghost ".exe" file (Download).

Windows 98 Boot Files (Download).

1)) SETTING UP BIOS

Before anything is done, check if your BIOS allows USB-BOOTING.
Refer to my post "Setting Up BIOS for Booting from Pen Drive or External HDD" to enable booting from Pen Drive.

2)) PREPARING GHOST BOOTABLE PEN DRIVE

Download and extract the ghost files to any directory of your choice. The file ghost.exe (2.2 MB) is of concern, others are not required.
Download and extract the "Windows 98 Boot Files" to any directory of your choice.
Download and install the HP USB Storage Format Tool.
1. Run HP Format Tool.

In XP simply run the program

In Vista/Windows 7 right click the program and choose "run as administrator".

2. Your Pen Drive will be automatically selected in the device box (if no other usb hdd/pendrive is connected).
3. File system should be "FAT32" (box 1).
4. Check the option "quick format" (box 2).
5. Check the option "create a DOS startup disk" (box 3).
6. Now browse for "DOS system files" (box 4).

WHAT IF YOUR CD-DRIVE FAILS AND UNFORTUNATELY MALICIOUS SOFTWARES AND BAD VIRUSES CEASE YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM ??

You would like to install a fresh copy of windows XP in your system and then clean up your system using a good antivirus. You can use a pen drive to do so.

If your system has crashed and does not start then approach some friend of yours to prepare the Pen Drive.

REQUIREMENTS :

USB-Boot enabled BIOS.

A Pen Drive (Atleast 1GB).

XP Installation Files.

Some Softwares

WinSetupFromUSB (Download).

MBRwiz,To set Pen drive as an Active Partition (Download).

UltraISO,CD-ROM drive emulator (Download).

NOTE : The XP installation files can be obtained by downloading a cd-image file of XP from internet.

2) PREPARING PEN DRIVE AND XP SOURCE

The software WinSetupUSB does the main job.But two things should be fulfilled before using WinSetupUSB :
1. XP Installation files Source.
2. A bootable Pen Drive.

# XP Source : You must install UltraISO.It provides a virtual CD-ROM drive on to which we can mount our XP cd-image file. After installing it :
1. Go to My Computer.
2. There you will find an extra virtual CD-ROM drive.Right click this drive.
3. In the subsequent selection menu there will be an option "UltraISO".Choose it.
4. Another sub menu will pop out.Choose the option "Mount" here.
5. A window will appear where you can browse your XP cd-image file.
6. Browse it and click OK.Your CD-IMAGE FILE is now mounted on to the drive.

Instead,if you have the rar or zip files of XP then there's no need to install UltraISO,you can simply extract the files to a folder and provide it's path as the source path in WinSetupUSB when required.

# Bootable Pen Drive : If you are working on XP to prepare the pen drive then you will need the software MBRwiz2.0.But if you are working on Vista or Windows 7 then MBRwiz is not required.

If You Are Working On XP :
download the file MBRwiz2.0 and extract to a folder (i extract to the directory d:/temp).

3. Once you do so,it will dislpay all the storage devices connected to the system and their respective partitions, here "disk 1" is the Pen Drive.By default the active parameter is set to "no" for Disk 1(shown in red box). Now type the command "mbrwiz /disk=1 /active=1" and press ENTER.

Note : the command should be typed as it is,be careful with spaces too.

4. Now it will ask for confirmation.Type 'y' and press enter. Then the screen should look as below

5. Now the Pen Drive is an active partition and can be made bootable.

Note : The Pen Drive is not bootable now,it is an Active Partition.Only an Active Partition can be made bootable. The software WinSetupUSB will itself make it bootable as required.

Also in step 3 if you type command "mbrwiz /disk=1 /active=0" then the pen drive will become inactive partition as it was earlier.

For Vista/Windows 7 :

1. Go to start menu type "cmd",right click it and select "run as administrator".
2. Type "diskpart" and press enter.
3. Type "list disk" and press enter. It will show all the storage devices connected to system. Here "Disk 1" is the pen drive(if no other pen drive/cd/dvd is jacked in).
4. Type "select disk 1" and press enter.
5. Type "list partition" and press enter. It will list the partitions on pen drive, usually there is only one partition as "partition 1".
6. Type "select partition 1" and press enter.
7. Now type "active".This makes the pen drive active partition. To make it inactive simply type
"inactive" instead of "active".

3) WORKING WITH WINSETUPUSB

Download and Install the software. After installing plug in the pen drive and run the software from shortcut icon on desktop.
1. The pen drive will be automatically selected if properly set as active partition. If not then try
refreshing. If it still does not detect pen drive then repeat above steps properly. If the problem
still persists then your pen drive is not supported by this software version (although it supports a
wide range of pen drives like kingston, san disk, transcend, etc).
Now browse for the XP installation files as shown below

2. Once you have browsed the source path and the status is ready (shown in red box) go for
"HP format tool"

3. Choose "FAT32" as file system, check the "quick format" option and click "start".

4. Choose "Yes" when warning message pops up.

5. Click "OK" when format is complete.

6. Now when the status is ready (shown in red box),click "GO".

7. It will take some time to complete preparing the pen drive. After it completes it will show a
